Here it is!

It feels bigger than it is, which is bigger than the Tacoma, so it feels Huge, but it’s only not-small...

‘s a good looking color, eh?

One thing I always forget is that they charge you sales tax on the sticker price, not the price after rebates :P brings it back up to almost sticker again by the time you’re done :\ oh well, it’s still under 40k with reg and service fees, so I guess that’s a win?

The 2.7 looks tiny In that engine bay...

But they seem to have managed to fill all the empty space with plumbing... Lots and lots of fancy plumbing. Even more since we have the payload package, there’s all kinds of extra coolers for oils and fluids...

Mrs. BoostAddict’s incredulous face when I explained about said louvers... She’s on a little bit of technology shock with all Bluetooth and trip computers and Pro Trailer Backup Assist and whatnot.

There is a real ass load of aluminum in these trucks, I forget how much more than just the bed is aluminum, it’s all over the place, hood, radiator support, fenders... Hopefully that means they rust less than old ones. Rides nice, amazing torque, 20.9 mpg average so far.

With your configuration, you’re looking at maybe 5.6-5.7 seconds to 60.

That’s impressive for anything. I timed about 5.8 in a 2016 SuperCrew XLT Sport with the 3.73.

I am surprisingly reckless in vehicles. Mr. Boost and I were chatting on the way home that the rear end doesn’t bounce everywhere like the Taco used to, and I admitted that I just ignored that tendency as much as I needed to as long as I was generally going forward.

In MA you are either taxed on price paid or vehicle value, whichever is higher. It keeps you from claiming that you got a deal in order to avoid paying sales tax.

That may be true, but not everyone who wants a pickup needs a vehicle with a 10,000 lb tow capacity, thats 18 feet long, and guzzles gas (though the 2.7 ecoboost is pretty frugal...). The American market could do with more competition in the Small(ish) truck segment. Many of the people commuting in LA traffic with Crew-Cab King Ranch F150s would be much better served with something like a Ranger to tow their jet-skis to the beach with, which is the only reason they got a truck in the first place... Or maybe the manufactures need to start designing their crossover SUVs to support higher towing loads so that people feel comfortable towing their bass boat with something like a Rav4, which would be perfectly capable of the job power-wise if it had the rated towing capacity.

the high level of cabin refinement on the Colorado/Canyon twins is certainly in their favor for people who want a truck, but mostly just commute in it...

Doesn’t hurt the Ranger’s sales in Oz either. It’s the second most popular vehicle. First is Hilux. But that doesn’t make it any more fit for my purposes...

Oz has got plenty of those BoF SUVs you talk about...but only the Isuzu MU-X sells in any significant numbers. Presumably not as sexy as a ute?

Now that the new Forester is confirmed as CVT only...it looks like the MU-X is all that’s left on our shopping list.

The thing about the 2.7 is that there’s so much space you can See all the plumbing... It’s just out hangin’ in the breeze like some sort of refinery or chemical plant. That Powerstroke is crammed in there like spaghetti in a bowl.

yarp. the Coyote still has to fit in that space too. even funnier is a Ram with the 3.6 V6. You could practically climb in and stand between the engine and radiator due to all of the space they had to leave free for the Cummins.

Can’t remember if I posted this the other day, but I saw a Denali Canyon the other day. Looked like a really nice truck that would do 100% of the things I would want a truck to do, including towing a 5,000 lb trailer occasionally.

If the Colorado/Canyon diesel could have been had for a reasonable price and/or without a crewcab.... It was on my list, but the price vs. the 2.7 ecoboost F150 -with a 1500lb higher tow rating when equipped with the payload package- and the fact that you can only get the diesel either in the crewcab or the ZR2 offroad package, which kills the tow rating, killed it. If a 4x4 Diesel Extendcab Colorado/Canyon could have been had (let along for under $42000) It would have been a close decision.

Oh yeah, you have to kinda really not want a full-size truck. The one I saw was also a diesel. I looked it up, and without any options (aside from Denali and the diesel) that thing was $49k.

And I get judged for driving a 15-year-old BMW with 170k, lol
